Well, for all intents and purposes, I am now at Mo for the summer! (Or, rather, until July 25th.) So, uh, have a great time, kids, don't forget that life is pretty amazing no matter what (I mean, heck, I actually survived my swim test, so I KNOW that I can keep living), etc. ♥

Oh, and my last gifs for the summer (probably) have been posted, most of them from Star Trek III! So SPOILERS HI HI HUGE SPOILERS for that movie, which you really ought to see because guys, in some way I think this movie is like my favorite ST movie, even if it gets a bad rep, because oh, when it comes to the things that are really the heart of Star Trek for me - by which I mean, of course, the crew of the Enterprise and Kirk/Spock - this movie is absolutely perfect. ♥

So, okay, I ordered this book Monday - as I mentioned, it had been sitting in my Amazon cart waiting for me to buy it and I decided to thumb my nose at them and buy something somewhere else and, well, I really wanted this book - and, good golly, it got here today (honestly, I though I must have accidentally ordered it twice, once sometime before Monday). So that made my day a bit!

And then I opened the cover.

Guys. How is the teaser the gayest, most amazingly beautiful soulmate-y thing I have ever read in my life, do they not know that this is the first thing people see or something, or is that intentional, I mean, I really wish I could find it online to show you, it is just. *____*

That said, I'm not sure it will ever change my life as much as ~~this fellow~~okay these fellows oh my god there are two of them:

Also, the track listing for the Star Trek soundtrack is completely friggin' hilarious, clearly any film with a soundtrack almost ENTIRELY NAMED WITH EXTREMELY STUPID PUNS is a film after my own heart. (Also, I am so unspeakably happy that the Wikipedia page still doesn't have a bit of plot/spoilers on it! :))))) And I have kept my vow not to spoil ANYTHING ANYWHERE. Somebody undoubtedly will, but it won't be me!)

Lastly, I'm making a post of Star Trek things, not to be posted until the movie's out, but I just wanted to say this now because I am so full of love: someone posted that the movie is "revolving around the concept that Kirk and Spock are cosmically meant to be", and guys, oh, guys, it's true, it's so true. In the midst of all the screaming and giddiness and laughter at every in-joke and bit of wonderfulness in the movie, every once in a while, it would just hit me, and all I could do was just stare at them, stare and go, You know, that's going to be the fucking love of your life.

Fun Fact: You can insert any expletive anywhere in this post and it will still be true. But you'll need to put in a lot to come anywhere close to it, because I could have honestly written the whole thing in +4 sparkly bolded expletive-laden caps-lock and it would have felt inadequate.

I, you guys. Tonight I went to see a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. There was going to be a 10 minute preview of the new movie before it. The three head screenwriters were there at the theatre, and they introduced Khan.

A few minutes into the movie, the picture died. To kill time, the writers told a few jokes, and then they called Leonard Nimoy came on stage, who told us that, while the world premiere was officially happening in Sydney Australia in a few hours (starting right about now), they thought that instead of the 10 minute preview, we might prefer to see the actual movie.

I went to see Spamalot last night (for $10!!! orchestra seats!!!), and it was, of course, fabulous. It got very cold (and rainy) abruptly today, which feels fantastic after several days of miserable humidity and temperatures in the high 80s. Someone downstairs is playing Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head on the piano.

I've got a paper, a lab, and an enormous biology test Friday, and a 100 pages to read for tomorrow, but it's hard to be too unhappy with the world.

TOTALLY JUST GOT $10 SPAMALOT TICKET FROM UNIVERSITY HONORS CENTER LOTTERY.

I also finished my lab on aseptic techniques, and my roommate and the College Station girls are both out of town this weekend, leaving me a fairly peaceful couple of days! (Which is good, since I have a bio test and a paper due next Friday. However, after that, SPRING BREAK!)

While in the lab, I heard one of the groups talking with a mentor about what an amazingly good movie Milk was. The mentor's a (as far as I know) straight white dude, as were two of the other guys in the group, along with a sports-y bleached-blonde girl. :)

So I spent the day before Inauguration Day (and the day before that, mostly) not online but plowing through ~700 pages of Middlemarch (which I think may be one of my favorite books, guys!), and I went to bed about three last night after finishing. I wore my brand new shiny pretty Election Day shirt, which finally arrived - Joey, Barry, please smile forever - and had a smile on my face most of the day. I was in chemistry during the actual Inauguration (after 45 minutes of unsuccessfully attempting to watch a stream, any stream, while waiting for my class to begin), and after lunch and my FRI conference course, finally caught the parade. Joynes had another showing of the oath and speech, and then we went to Michelle's and played Spore.

I smiled helplessly through his speech, grew close to tears over and over, and did end up crying at the end. Science having a place again, and the size of government not matter but what the government does, and the sun and the wind and the soil, and non-Christians and non-believers, and power grows with prudent use, and it's not just that we maybe can, but we actually will. I still can hardly believe it, any of it. My doubt grew again over the break - amazing how just being back in Houston can do that, even when it doesn't come up - and I'm still so terrified of hoping, but oh. Oh. The places we'll go. I believe.

Having now watched Mamma Mia! twice in two weeks, thrice counting the commentary track, I can safely say that this is one of my favorite movies. It is also safe to say that I would throw myself in a puddle in front of Meryl Streep. (I am now having even more trouble, as I've been pondering - for years, admittedly - deleting all my userpics and replacing them all with Star Wars, but now I partly just want to make them all Mamma Mia!, if only for the colors.) (PS, I also have a crush on Anne Roth, the woman who gave Meryl/Donna the red shawl. Sex with my family, please.)

And the actual reason I made this post: someone may have simply suggested it and therefore planted it in my head, but it had never even occurred to me that the Lady of the Green Kirtle wasn't Jadis. Ever, since third grade. And then I ran across that "theory" on the epileptic tree page of tvtropes.com. what.

Watched The Shrine again with mom tonight, and it will always, always be my Stargate Atlantis. (I love it so much that I don't even want to taint it with all the ranting that further watchings inspires.)

And did anyone else think that Stephen last night just seemed unusually adorable and delightful? I mean, it could be just because I just watching 3:10-4:00ish about five times while curling my toes with love, but he just in general seemed on a roll. Or possibly high. ♥

I can now sort of chew again, although my jaw is still a bit sore from attempting beef at dinner, and my (not as adorable as the name suggests) chipmunk cheeks are nearly gone. I've mainly spent the week watching movies and being useless, and I'll just do a quickie movie run-through right before I go back to school (the 17th), so there's not much else to report.

My mom wasn't feeling too great, so we're just hanging out here instead. Last year's Christmas was family-filled and busy, and... this is really nice. Delicious dinner is cooking, presents are (mostly) wrapped, my love of stupid gifs is reaching all-time highs, and life is good.

Merry Christmas Eve, guys. I pretty much dropped off the map this semester, I know, but I still think you're all wonderful.

Okay, so, as of this final I am 4 for 4 on chemistry tests to sudden, irresistible urges for Commissioner Gordon and Gordon/Batman. I cannot explain this in the slightest: as far as I've noticed, I won't even be thinking of Batman, and then I'll find myself reading fic instead of quantum mechanics. Spent all day studying yesterday, 10:30 comes, and it is suddenly Very Important that I reread all my saved fic immediately, preferably while looking at sexy sexy pictures and, vaguely, thinking that there was a time when mustaches and Gary Oldman were both unattractive. (A sad time, indeed.)

Today, I spent the first half hour of my chemistry final with Tony Stark and the Iron Man theme (old and new) running through my head - no apparent reason there, either. At some point, I switched back to It Had to Be You (Motion City Soundtrack) (gratuitous vid! I love that vid, okay), the song I had stuck in my head when I left for the exam. By the end of the test, I managed to mix Gordon/Bats and that song to the point that part of me is now convinced that that is totally a song for them, and that a vid to it would be brilliant.

... This could bode well for my grade or very, very badly.

And now to spend the weekend reading a million versions of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead, writing my essay about it, doing 9 skill modules, finishing our group's inquiry, studying for my biology final (half of which is a new unit), and attending my aunt and uncle's Christmas tree party. Awesome.

First off: I HAVE EGGNOG AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC, AND HAVE DRAWN A TREE ON OUR DOOR AND REQUESTED THAT PEOPLE DRAW US ORNAMENTS AND PRESENTS, AND HAVE MY CHRISTMAS HAT AND MAGICAL RAINBOW MISTLETOE. YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY. All I have to do is survive next week and somehow finish all my Research Methods stuff by Friday and it will be CHRISTMAS TIME.

For some reason, in just the past month it has hit me really hard that part of me is always going to be completely convinced that Weasley is our King. I can take or leave pretty much any and all of HP canon after GoF, but, even with Gay!Dumbledore and AD/GG and my beautiful unbreakable OT3, nothing is going to make me stop believing that, in some universe, Ron Weasley is, and was long-plotted to be, Albus Dumbledore.

Apparently, this post is going to be a complete tinhat bonanza, but I've had Suddenly I See stuck in my head for a few days and I've gotta say, this is a very lesbian song. (The fact that it opened Devil Wears Prada does incredibly little to disabuse me of this notion.) Oh, and also, I don't like Fandom!Secrets much, but, while drifting their earlier ~~looking for referenced Rahmdom and Merlin secrets~~, I managed to get, for the first time, a little convinced that Jensen and Jared really are together. Baaa. Sheep, meet herd.

In other news, Rahmdom now has an amazing high school Obama Administration AU and an equally amazing but also somewhat devastating rockband AU. And thank you, Rahmdom, for getting me to have a huge hulking crush on Anderson Cooper. Also, I am incredibly psyched for Night at the Museum 2, okay, please please please be awesome. Oh, and I've caught up with Merlin, and it's even worse later, and also about five thousand million times gayer. (One of these days, I'll get an icon and made it official, but I keep thinking I should get an Arthur/Merlin icon, for obvious reasons, but get distracted by the Morgana icons, for almost equally obvious reasons.) Finally, The Big Picture's (fantastic blog, you should watch it) Hubble Advent Calendar has been going for 5 days and has made me nearly cry 5 times, so.
